Jackson Hole, Wyoming
Discover the beauty and history of Jackson Hole – an authentic Western town surrounded by breathtaking mountains and natural splendor. Jackson Hole, Wyoming, refers to the large valley that includes Grand Teton National Park as well as the town of Jackson and was named for trapper Davey Jackson who favored hunting in the area in the 1800s. Grand Teton National Park – named the Travel Channel’s #1 park for wildlife, is just minutes from downtown Jackson and 60 minutes from Yellowstone – the first National Park. Jackson Hole also includes the Bridger-Teton National Forest and many wilderness areas.
By virtue of these national parks and protected areas of the American West including the National Elk Refuge and three National Forests, 97% of the land in Teton County, Wyoming, is undeveloped – preserving the wild and open nature of this destination forever.
With such magnificent mountains and rivers – including the iconic Snake River – recreational activities are limitless. From thrilling whitewater rafting and alpine skiing, to serene moments horseback riding and hiking by placid alpine lakes, there is something for everyone in Jackson Hole.
Grand Teton Wildlife Safari
This full day tour explores the wildlife, geology, and natural history of Grand Teton National Park. After being picked up from your hotel, your naturalist guide will take you through the National Elk Refuge, Antelope Flats, Mormon Row, Jenny Lake, and to the top of Signal Mountain. Keep an eye out for wildlife and great photographs as you end your day with a drive on the wildlife filled Moose-Wilson road.
Snake River Scenic Float
On this 13 mile stretch of the Snake River, you will get the best view of the Tetons from the rivers perspective. Your guide’s extensive training in wildlife, ecology, geology, and river hydrology will provide interesting facts about the Jackson Hole and the surrounding area. Your float will also include a delicious lunch and high-powered binoculars for you to thoroughly enjoy the surrounding area.
The Town of Jackson
Designated as a “Top World Destination,” the town of Jackson is located at the southern end of the valley. Jackson offers countless opportunities for shopping, dining, and experiencing the local attractions and entertainment. At the heart of downtown Jackson lies a town square with its notable antler arch entrance and boardwalk-lined shops. The stores scattered along the Western boardwalk range from commercial chains and souvenir shops to fashion boutiques and fine art galleries. In fact, Jackson is the fifth nationally recognized arts center in the nation.
When you’re ready to take a break from shopping, grab a bite at one of the many restaurants in Jackson Hole. It’s been said that more than half of Jackson’s residents could eat out every night at the same time and still not fill the town’s nearly one hundred restaurants and eateries! As evening falls on the antler arches, gear up for a night on the town. Belly up to the bar at one of Jackson’s world-famous saloons and enjoy live music, dancing, and a beer or two from a regional brewery. From truly local hideaways to the more well-known watering holes, Jackson’s vibrant nightlife offers something for everyone.
